{Trendy vs Spendy} Designer-Inspired Ankle Boots

I wrote this post for Trend Hungry. See the rest of the post here.

Ankle boots and booties are an easy to wear shoe. This transitional shoe comes in a variety of designs, so they can be worn year round. There’s a pair to suit skinnies, jeans, dresses, or a skirt.

I’ve spotted three budget-friendly pairs that are just as stunning as these designer pairs. Below are three types – everyday wear, stiletto, and peep toe.

booties

1. Everyday Wear

Suede booties are perfect to slip on for an everyday casual chic look. Wear under a wide-leg jean or cuff your skinnies and let the boots be a focal point.

Nine West Otilla Pull On Booties for $139 now marked down to $49.99 vs Rag & Bone Classic Newbury Booties for $495

2. The Stiletto

Layer with a black tight for long, sexy legs.

Michael Antonio Mains Bootie for $59 now marked down to $44.95 vs Barbara Bui Smooth Leather Ankle Bootie for $780

3. Peep Toe

Layer a fun tight for a peep of personality on a chilly day or save this style for a warmer temp.

Miss KG Black Peep Ankle Boots for $135 now marked down to $39 vs Burberry Peep Toe Booties for $750 now marked down to $525

My favorite type is the stiletto. I love to wear them with my favorite pair of skinny jeans for a night out. What’s your favorite type of ankle boot or bootie? Share how you’d style this shoe in the comments below!

San Francisco Winter STyle

San Francisco winter weather has been great over the past few days! Its not too cold but not too hot! I am in love with it. Even thou I am stuck in bed with a cold I had to share my outfit inspiration for this great weather! All you need is some winter essentials such as boots, beanie and of course lip balm! I want to keep it causal but still street chic at the same time!

Polar Vortex – Snow Day Survival Style

I didn’t think the storm would be THAT bad. Boy, was I wrong! Silly me, I walked out in classic black Keds (definitely not snow appropriate)…yes, I changed to boots.

Hmmm…I wonder what Chauncey’s wearing today. Apparently, it’s 65 – 70 degrees in San Francisco. She’s sick in bed :( and I hope she feels better soon.

It has been snowing for over 10 hours, so here’s what I wore to stay toasty during  blizzard Janus (…since when did they start naming snow storms?):

1. C.Wonder knit cable beanie with fur topper (similar C. Wonder hat here or ASOS faux fur pom beanie here)

2. Striped scarf (similar LOFT scarf here)

3. Betsey Johnson hooded wool coat with heart twisty toggles (old, similar coats here)

4.  Black Hunter Original Tall Rain Boots with Pink Welly Fleece Boot Socks (old, similar here)

Also, no snow day is complete without hot chocolate & oversized marshmallows. Mmmmmm!

Stay warm!

Snow day street style…featuring fur coats, long boots, and warm accessories

Happy 2014! The east coast is getting way too cold. In the past week, I’ve experienced 70 degrees in Silicon Valley, 5 degrees in the Catskills, and 16 degrees in Philadelphia.

Right now, I’m in Philly and the Nor’easter has brought us several inches of snow…and counting. I hate being cold and I hate wearing frumpy clothing. I never know what to wear in this type of weather, so I put together a snow day outfit.

18 Amazing Ways To Style A Super-Bright Winter Coat This Season

Melissa:

It’s FREEZING in Phildelphia…and from what I’ve heard it’s super cold in San Jose also. I love wearing bright colors in the winter…it makes the days less gloomy. In this blog post, StyleCaster teaches how to look chic while wearing “the super-bright winter coat”. Check out the full post for a slideshow of bright coats here.

November is officially upon us, which means temperatures are going to start plummeting at a fairly steady rate. Until now, we’ve been getting by just fine with our many blazers, little fall jackets, and thin sweaters, but there’s no denying it’s just about time to break out the big guns: The winter coat. Or, more specifically, the super-bright winter coat.

Indeed, when it comes to looking chic and pulled together, a black or a camel overcoat will never (ever) not be a viable option, but this season we’re starting to rethink the idea that a coat always has to be neutral. In fact, judging by the blogger and street style set, a coat shouldn’t always be neutral. Super-saturated hues not only brighten up your face during the cold winter months, but when styled correctly, can completely modernize a winter outfit.
