What To Own Before You Turn 30.

Yes, 30 years old is a real number and yes Melissa and I are almost 30 in a few years. Its hard to believe that in a few years we will be 30. I came across this article on Harper’s Bazaar last night while checking my twitter account. And yes I am the girl who checks her social media in the morning and when I go to bed.. just like a newspaper.  I cam across this article about What To Own Before You Turn 30. I was of course curious and had to read this. First of all a lot of these things would be wonderful to own its just hard to sink in that I am about to turn 30.  The article goes on to state that you need a great pair of shoes, your signature scent, artwork, your favorite flower and of course a great handbag. I feel like I am almost close to have a few things check off this list! But I do have a few years to see if my signature scent will change and which handbag will be my ultimate favorite. I am a handbag whore lets be honest.

Check out this article and let us know what you think you should have before you turn 30!

Trendy vs Spendy: Year of the Horse – Equestrian Style

Chinese New Year just passed and since it’s the year of the horse, why not celebrate in style? With horse race season coming up, equestrian looks are hitting the runway and appearing in celebrity closets. Recently, Bruce Springsteen’s daughter, Jessica Springsteen, has been named Gucci’s equestrian ambassador for their luxury line of riding clothes.

This trend features a lot of leather, and comfy-chic blazers, blouses, belts, and boots with a modern twist. The equestrian style can be expensive, so here’s how you can add this lavish look to your closet on a skinny budget:

Rebecca Minkoff Fall 2014 Ready to Wear Collection was beyond street chic. She shined at New York Fashion Week. A great example for the New York city gal. It is a great for the fashion forward girl that can rock for that everyday look while looking super chic. “It’s about taking menswear-inspired silhouettes and translating them into feminine colors and silhouettes.”

{Trendy vs Spendy} Designer-Inspired Ankle Boots

booties

I wrote this post for Trend Hungry. See the rest of the post here.

Ankle boots and booties are an easy to wear shoe. This transitional shoe comes in a variety of designs, so they can be worn year round. There’s a pair to suit skinnies, jeans, dresses, or a skirt.

I’ve spotted three budget-friendly pairs that are just as stunning as these designer pairs. Below are three types – everyday wear, stiletto, and peep toe.

booties

1. Everyday Wear

Suede booties are perfect to slip on for an everyday casual chic look. Wear under a wide-leg jean or cuff your skinnies and let the boots be a focal point.

Nine West Otilla Pull On Booties for $139 now marked down to $49.99 vs Rag & Bone Classic Newbury Booties for $495

2. The Stiletto

Layer with a black tight for long, sexy legs.

Michael Antonio Mains Bootie for $59 now marked down to $44.95 vs Barbara Bui Smooth Leather Ankle Bootie for $780

3. Peep Toe

Layer a fun tight for a peep of personality on a chilly day or save this style for a warmer temp.

Miss KG Black Peep Ankle Boots for $135 now marked down to $39 vs Burberry Peep Toe Booties for $750 now marked down to $525

My favorite type is the stiletto. I love to wear them with my favorite pair of skinny jeans for a night out. What’s your favorite type of ankle boot or bootie? Share how you’d style this shoe in the comments below!

“”My life and the lives of so many have never been the same since the day this wonderful woman entered my world.” -Prince Rainier

Grace Kelly is an icon in the fashion industry. She’s a screen legend, United Nations advocate for children, and international spokesperson for arts and culture. This actress turned princess  accomplished so much in her life and The Michener Art Museum has put together an exhibit that traces her path from Philadelphia to Monaco. Not to mention, the exhibit features her gowns, movie costumes, and other personal objects. Yup, a vintage fashion lover’s dream come true! Continue reading

Polar Vortex – Snow Day Survival Style

I didn’t think the storm would be THAT bad. Boy, was I wrong! Silly me, I walked out in classic black Keds (definitely not snow appropriate)…yes, I changed to boots.

Hmmm…I wonder what Chauncey’s wearing today. Apparently, it’s 65 – 70 degrees in San Francisco. She’s sick in bed :( and I hope she feels better soon.

It has been snowing for over 10 hours, so here’s what I wore to stay toasty during  blizzard Janus (…since when did they start naming snow storms?):

1544535_754772752538_1902015910_n

1. C.Wonder knit cable beanie with fur topper (similar C. Wonder hat here or ASOS faux fur pom beanie here)

2. Striped scarf (similar LOFT scarf here)

3. Betsey Johnson hooded wool coat with heart twisty toggles (old, similar coats here)

4.  Black Hunter Original Tall Rain Boots with Pink Welly Fleece Boot Socks (old, similar here)

Also, no snow day is complete without hot chocolate & oversized marshmallows. Mmmmmm!

Stay warm!
